Mary Stewart

A guitarist since the age of 11 and a songwriter since the age of 14, Mary Stewart hung in more than a decade before resolving to follow music actively.  Raised in a musical environment, her younger years in New Glasgow were filled with melodies.  Between her father’s love for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and her mother’s piano abilities, which sometimes served as the family alarm, music always filled the Stewart household.  In time, Mary also treasured influences outside of the home and garnered numerous musical friendships around the province.  Mary’s recording, “Good Wife”, was produced around several of these relationships.  When asked about the cookie recipe in her song, Mary responded “Dry batter = good.  Wet batter = Burnt cookies”.  You will find this song on The Reason For Hope compilation CD.
